FILE - In this Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011 file photo, an Afghan woman, center, peeks inside a hospital while she and others wait for an employee to let them enter, on the outskirts of Kabul, Afghanistan. An Afghan woman has been strangled to death, apparently by her husband, who was upset that she gave birth to a second daughter rather than the son he wanted, police said Monday. It was the latest in a series of grisly examples of subjugation of women that have made headlines in Afghanistan in the past few months including a 15-year-old tortured and forced into prostitution by in-laws and a female rape victim who was imprisoned for adultery. Meaning of Life Essay
The meaning of life is a question we all come across at some part of our lives. When we do, we always end up searching for an answer; a direct specific answer is for the hopeful solution for all. These answers basically consist of social ties, finding a meaning or value or the pursuit of something. Aristotle delivers to us a different view, where he finds happiness to be the answer of this recurring question.
Aristotle’s perception of the meaning of life is to obtain the highest good which basically entails having as successful and fulfilling life as there is possible. To develop yourself as a human being, and most importantly to achieve the highest amount of possible true happiness. The cultivation of virtue is achieved by maintaining the mean. (Mean being the end or results) Well one of Aristotle’s belief is that for everything there is a mean and end; which gives meaning to the end. Happiness being what he always believed to be the end. Anything good, knowledgeable, anything with a purpose would lead to happiness. (This would give it meaning). So Happiness would therefore become the meaning of life.
So if happiness is the meaning of life, we now must ask ourselves how we become happy.  Another one of Aristotle’s many teaching is that to obtain something you can’t just do it, you have to become it.  In psychology, self talk modifies self image, so what you say becomes you. So in order to be happy, you have to become happiness itself. So the real meaning of life is to develop yourself as a human until you reach that point in your life in which you finally become happy. “For as it is not one swallow or one fine day, that makes the spring, so it is not one day or short time that makes a man blest and happy” ( Nichomian ethics, Aristotle).
This absolute principle has been interpreted many ways through several generations but at the end it is the basis for many ethical, religious and psychological precepts: Do good, unto others, doing the right thing, Think positive, act reasonable… (All variants of this great basic theory that has captured our imagination, thoughts and ethical concepts for over 2000 years)  So as Aristotle explains is his ethical theory:  grow as a person and obtain knowledge; really be the best you can be. And as you do these things you will be on the road to later becoming happy and this will give the real meaning of life.

Ahora debemos preguntarnos cĆ³mo seremos felices.
