Quién es responsable? ¿Cómo funciona? ¿Por qué suceden las cosas? ¿Quiénes somos? Todas respondidas hoy
¿Quién es
responsable? ¿Cómo funciona? ¿Por qué suceden las
cosas? ¿Quiénes somos? Todas respondidas hoy
acciones y aún me guían.
sabía cómo regresar a casa, ella estuvo
regular a tiempo.
Who is in charge? How does it Work? Why do things Happen? Who are we?
Who is in charge? How does it work? Why do things happen? Who are we? All answered today this AM
The title of this chapter is a series of questions we ask ourselves many times through our lives, as we traverse situations, challenges and often have no idea why things happen.
In previous chapters, I have mentioned how God and his Angels come to rescue you when you need them most, out of anonymity, which simply do the job and depart as
you are back on your feet reassuming your normal life.
Today was one of those days, when I found the answers to the title of this chapter of my life. Today I realized once again his omnipresence, his work, anonymous, precise, timely, and undisturbed. Today I was a peon in the great Chess game of life as I made a move to save a queen.
Every Sunday as I wake up, I meticulously follow routines, disciplines I have done through my life, taught by my two most important regimental commanders (Mom and grandmother). Both now in the other world, the spiritual world which they overlook my actions, and still guide me.
Today as I prepared to go to church, doing my routines, which are always the regimental requirements of a Sunday morning I completed all tasks in due time.
I left home earlier, had a lot of time to get to church and decided to change my regular route to church. In doing so as I came to the intersection of Killian Parkway and SW 104th Street, I saw an elderly lady out of her car waving at me asking for help, with a face of concern, distraught. As I parked and went to her to ask what was wrong, she told me with the utmost sincerity and distraught that she, for the first time in her life forgot how to get home, and asked me to help her get back home.
I told her yes, told her to get in her car, flagged other cars to stop so she could align her car on the side of the road since she had stopped cold turkey in the middle of the road.. I safely had her back off into the grass; then went to my car to get my phone and put her address on my GPS.
She knew her address perfectly, she just didn’t know how to get back home, she had been driving around for a while and when she couldn’t she stopped dead center of the road, and there we met.
I told her to follow me , and that we were just 2.8 miles from her home briefly explained the route and we took off westbound on 104th Street. As we got home turning into the main hardball avenue into her residential area she flagged me once again , and I stopped got out of my car went to see her and she once again stated her gratitude, she said she now recognized the rest of the journey back home (she was in her residential area) I reiterated to her if she wanted for me to follow her, and she said no. that she was ok, I still went over with her the remaining route showing her my GPS so she would not make a wrong turn. She thank me and still asked me what did she owe me? I said One random act of kindness to someone else…. She then said pay ahead? I said yes pay ahead… I kissed her hand, and let her on.
As I took back my route to church, I then took my regular route and not a single stop light was red, all green even getting off the Don Shula Expressway, I had a green light on that light too, so I still managed to get to church prior to 9:30 AM my regular scheduled time.
Needless to say I cried most of the way to church, trying to understand everything that had happened. I then understood how God works, that he is in charge always, and today my diversion was because he needed me to do his work to one of his children in distress; anonymously, I never asked her name or gave her mine. I simply did what she wanted me to do, and left her when she didn’t need me anymore….
I wondered why she didn’t want me to follow her home? Was it that she had to confront this new situation about forgetting how to get home by herself? Or had she called a relative to tell them what happened and they were also in distress waiting for her arrival? Or is she living alone? or if her husband is still alive possibly older than her, he would have also been totally inept to help her. So I respected her choice to go home alone the last three blocks, so she could face her new reality, which implies her giving away her freedom to drive, what if her children know about this?
What will they do, but my job was to get her to safe place, to help her out as much as she wanted to be helped?
Taking always the keys of the car from my father was not an easy task in 2007, I took away his liberty, his choice to be anywhere he wanted to be, he now depended on me and later my sister who came down from Chicago to live with him, because the car means freedom of movement, liberty. What will happen to this lady today, tonight, and tomorrow? Will she realize she needs to tell her children, and eventually let go? All are tough questions to answer.
But it was not my job, today I simply facilitated her safe return to home, guided by the one who is always present, who had me take another route, to help him get one of his sheep to safety. I felt the pain that lady must be feeling of knowing what she will have to give up soon. Today was a curtain call for her. For me an act of faith, that once again showed me how god makes you one of his angels for a short period of time, to assist him on this world. And once it is done, you re-assume you life, undisturbed, to do as you please. So the answers are: God is in charge; He works in mysterious ways; things happen for a reason; we are all at a give time his angels or recipients of the help of his angels.
