Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi: IS leader 'killed in US operation' in Syria

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50200339

What to read out of this Operation?

Definitively a great success, for the US, President Trump, but what do the Tea leaves tell us?  That a lot of coordination went down, a lot of lateral conversations, agreements that we don’t know.

Today we get word the Abu Bakrh Al Baghdadi may have been in Idlib province since March  of 2019 after loosing the last sliver of territory between the border of SE Syria and NW Iraq.

For those that are not a daily reader of Syrian affairs, or ISIS  and terrorist news…. this is important for you to know:

No one would have expected him in this province, some had him still in the Iraq/Syria border or even out of the area.

Based on the official information we got today we can say the following:

This operation was part of a contingent operation that has been planned for the last 5 years since Al Baghdabi went into hiding.

According to President Trump and Secretary of Defense Mark Esper final preparations came in about two plus weeks ago, when several options were set on the table, rehearsals conducted, and the planned selected was a Heliborne operation.
This came about Friday….

They also addressed that the operation was called off at least twice, because of Al Baghdabi’s movements…. which implies (eyes on the ground, being monitored for a while.

We also hear that we received inter agency intelligence (CIA, DIA, NSA, and Kurd as well as Iraqi Intelligence reports)  Which tell you of all the background agreements that do exist, but are not known to the common American.

Iraq just recently captured the wife of one of Al Baghdadi assistant as well as his brother in law. These may have been important key information if any source of voice intercept, or communications was ongoing could have nailed him into a certain location.

The Kurds also chimed in and could have gotten the word he was in Idlib since March, they control the bulk of Isis prisoners, and took part of the clearing operations in Deir Al Sur to Al Quim.

We also learned that up to 8 helicopters, (Sec Esper only mentioned CH47 type’s were part of this operation. These helicopters flew into Syrian airspace controlled by Russia, Syria and out of? Turkey of course where US/NATO has several bases.
The operation took over 2 hours on site and implied an one hour flight within Syrian territory protected by Russia’s S400 batteries.

Once again for the Lay person this implies coordination with Turkey, Russia, Syria in order to conduct this mission, that is why the Presidents later thanked Russia, Turkey, Syria and the Kurds.

So we all have a common enemy  and we do talk despite our differences and coordinate this high level operations.

there were less than 100 US SF troops and dogs involved so this the the scope of what was part of this force that flew in destroyed air defenses, busted into the walls of the compound and later chased him into a dead end tunnel.

More information that came out was that Al Baghdadi had a suicide vest, and according to Intel reports he slept with it on, this is something verified several years ago, but other sources.

Most importantly  is the description of the president of running, crying as he was chased by dogs….once again implying that the dogs had cameras with video and audio feeds.

The mission was to capture or kill Al Baghdadi, but as you already heard ,this irresponsible being took three young children with him to death as he detonated the suicide vest.

So a lot to be said, or known but our Intel system works, that this operation had nothing to do with the pull out of troops from Northern Syria, that the Kurds and US are still collaborating in Intell matters and other parts of Syria.

That consultation with Russia, Turkey and Syria took place to permit entry into this Ungodly province, last bastion of several Islamic terrorist organizations.

That there was another catch of Intelligence captured on site (2 1/2 hour operation) that will also help identifying other members and cells of the ISIS caliphate and their plans to reconsolidate o morph into something else.

his body will receive the same treatment that Osama Bin Laden, buried at sea with a Muslim burial ritual. That the DNA confirmation did come because we did have his DNA when he was in prison in Iraq in 2004.

Once again technology, used for years in our data bases, even further confirmation with three of his dead children.

So when you go out and think about this, there are more back ground treaties, coordinations we care to know, but when things need to happen they happen

Great victory for US Special Forces, Kudos, for the US, the President and the civilized world which this lumpen threatened to destroy.

Read this to get more insight into Idlib province

Background:

Since the war in Syria started, Bashar Al Assad military operations throughout Syria  2012-2017;  took a  course of sending its Armies to enclaves of dissident groups, or Islamic opponents with brutal forces and negotiating a withdrawal to the Idlib Province which was later designated (De Escalation zone) under a treaty by Russia, Turkey and Iran 06-04-2017, in those five years of operations he has concentrated a vast groups of militias in the province (which fight amongst each other for control and power. This would ultimately become the last pocket, the one kill zone to concentrate all his forces since he could not realistically spread them to combat Kurds in the East, Caliphate in the North East and others in the North.

with the fall of the last major city of Aleppo, on July 2016, Bashar Al Assad now had all he wanted and reorganized to start the battle of this last kill zone Idlib.  He understood that he could not combat the Isis caliphate, that the Americans and Kurds would be taking care of that and that the only worth saving part of his country was all major cities, the Capital of Damascus, and the province of Latakia (The seat of his Allawite power) with only one impediment: The province of Idlib.

With the advent of the Russian air support after August of 2015 and troops. Assad started pounding this province and has continued to do so since then, the Treaty of Idlib demilitarization  signed on September 2018 just served as a temporary halt to operations  but since January  of 2019, the attacks on selected areas has been careless hitting hospitals, civilian markets and housing.

Idlib demilitarization (2018–present)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaThe Idlib demilitarization is an ongoing agreement between Turkey and Russia to create a demilitarized zone (DMZ) in Syria's rebel held Idlib Governorate, to be patrolled by Russian and Turkish militaries. On 17 September 2018, the Russian president Vladimir Putin and Turkish president Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan, reached an agreement to create a buffer zone in Idlib.[19] The DMZ is also referred to as the "Putin-Erdogan area" by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.[20][21]

Syria's 'de-escalation zones' explained
Deal signed by Russia,Turkey and Iran calls for end to hostilities between rebel and government forces in four regions.  4 Jul 2017
A deal aimed at reducing violence in Syria is again in the news, as regional powers meet in Kazakhstan for a a fifth found of talks aimed at ending a bloody war now in its seventh year.
The agreement - signed in May by government backers Iran and Russia, and rebel ally Turkey in the Kazakh capital, Astana - is the latest in a series of ceasefire proposals aimed at ending Syria's war.
The plan calls for the cessation of hostilities between rebel groups and forces fighting on behalf of Bashar al-Assad's government in four so-called de-escalation zones in mainly opposition-held areas of the country, with Russia, Turkey and Iran to act as guarantors.
The deal covers four general areas:
Zone 1: Idlib province, as well as northeastern areas of Latakia province, western areas of Aleppo province and northern areas of Hama province. There are more than one million civilians in this zone and its rebel factions are dominated by an al-Qaeda-linked alliance

Combat Fatigue a chapter of the book the Regiment written back in August 15th 2011 (Translated to the English Language in 2019)

                                        – Combat Fatigue –
While driving to the airport on Friday at 3.56 AM, I was praying, and in doing so always using the Rosary. On that moment a thought of my mother came to me, a woman who was a devoted of the Rosary and prayed it several times a day especially during the long years of convalescence of multiple sclerosis.  It gave me a feeling of guilt to know that for a day, or several, I hadn't thought of her, and there I jumped to a historic moment back in December 1990; where we were right in the process of formulating the attack plans (the entry into Kuwait-Iraq in 1991) which should have been "... The mother of battles..."  Where Saddam Hussein predicted the deaths of thousands of Americans and a large number of mothers mourning their children over the bloodshed in that desert

Focusing on the theme "Combat fatigue" I don't remember the day it was, but after several planning sessions where the G2-G3 staff considered the kind of forces to use, movement tables, what engineering equipment to be used at the breach; contingencies whether  we followed in the British or Egyptians in the attack, depending on where it was most necessary to "exploit a breakthrough"  that is using the most powerful tank division that would then take the advance and penetrate with blunt force on the enemy.  After several days of 36-48 hours of continuous working; of planning without sleep, the night and the day are confused, because in the command post you work with a black out lights and only when you need to go out to eat and go to the bathroom, until then you don’t get to find out if it is day or night, hot or cold or if the is a moonlit night. At that time even the day of the week is forgotten, every day is the same, contrary to the normal days were we worked shifts of 12-13 hours since we arrived in Saudi Arabia. Given the need to complete organizational charts, plans and movement tables, we only worked on goals imposed for completion by hours or reviews before the next meeting that took place every 12 hours (during  shift changes). The plans changed every time when another unit arrived, forced to modify the plan, which put us in check for more than 32 days. And it wasn't until we were told to stop, that we did and in one of those times that we were given about 6 hours to sleep, I remember very well the incident that would change my whole life. It was one of those days between long periods of work that I woke up, and I was lost, I didn't even know who I was, I asked myself, then I remember that I had a daughter, that I was married that I had lost a son a couple of years ago and in the middle of that moment  I cried ....without consolation.  It was there that I met (first person- Myself) what combat fatigue is..... It is  what it is to bring the body and mind to the limit, to the point of total weariness, which lead to the breakdown of a human being. This happened without firing a shot, long before going into combat, but given the circumstances and its description it is the same suffering that many soldiers who have not rested, after long hours and turns them into non-combatants..... This is the result of a process where there is a great level of intensity that only keeps one concentrated at that moment by an event, whether fighting to live or surviving, where everything else takes a background, and is at that moment by an event, whether fighting to live or surviving, where everything else takes a background, and is at that moment rest ...that the two meet and you feel guilty.

Today you remember it and a few tears comes to my eyes, at the time it was despairing and painful, a feeling of emptiness and loneliness. You look around disoriented, oblivious to your reality as a result of time and tiredness.

Sometimes I am accused of being cold, of not feeling or reacting in a certain way. After that event I am more aware of the stress of each day, of the work, of the everyday Today is a long day that began at 3:30 AM and possibly will not end until late tonight. I started driving about 40 miles to the Ft. Lauderdale airport, flying about 364 miles, loading a truck full of furniture and other things, I'll drive about 570 miles through four states I'll get to unload the trailer all by midnight and tomorrow unload the truck and assemble my eldest daughter's apartment but if I think of my mother, my grandmother, my wife at home, my little daughter who is on vacation with her uncles, I will also recall that 20 years ago, I forgot who I was during a war and that long periods of work, stress, of the day does not make me forget everyone whom I have left behind during this weekend so as long as it lasts.
