Once again my friend El Greco brings history, religion, reality and current events into perspective. For those who do not study history, or learn from past mistakes, will inevitably repeat committing the same mistakes, For those of little faith, will end up being the new man he speaks about, and destined to repeat once again the failures of the past, so enjoy El Greco's account of St Andrew.....

Andrew, The First Apostle
For the Catholic & Orthodox Christian world, today 30 November is the day of St Andrew (Greek:" Andreas", known as the first Apostle of Jesus and brother of Peter. In turn Andreas comes from the Greek root Andras, who’s essential meaning is man. It is then paradoxical that, according to the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, Andrew and Peter were fishermen and Jesus made them their main disciples by telling them that he would turn them into fishermen of men (Greek: psarádes andrón)
Among many passages of the
life of the first Apostle preaching the word of Jesus, it is said that he built
several churches in the province of Acaya or Akhaia, an ancient region located
on the coast of the north of the Peloponnese and
where today is located its capital, the city of Patras
In his fishing work
entrusted by Jesus, he converted many people to Christianity. Among the
converts was Maximila, the wife of proconsul Egeas, who, upon learning of the
news, went to the city of Patras to prevent Andres's work, threatening him with
imprisonment and death. In turn, Andrew ignored the threats of Egeas, even
trying to convert Egeas himself to Christianity. The angry proconsul then
orders Andrew's imprisonment, but fails to break the Firmness of the Apostle in
his fishing work even from his own cell, so that, after some time, Egeas
called him to his presence threatening him with flogging and death on the cross
if he obeyed his orders. Andrew reaffirmed his faith and the work
entrusted by Jesus, with which Egeas ordered to be whipped and his subsequent
crucifixion. This is how the first Apostle was displeased, humiliated,
whipped and crucified in public. He was tied to an X-shaped cross and
collected the gospel that took several days to die and, from the cross,
preached to all those who approached him.
Without going into religious
considerations, but of principles and values, today's citizen may
be a reflection or millennial product of the unshakable and fierce will of the
first Apostle, who defended his principles and beliefs above his own suffering
and death.
Today we are witnesses of
the changes of those fishermen looking for that new man, or like you would say
in old Greek: aliís ton néon andrón, (αλιείς των νέων ανδρών,). Although
fishing may be similar, the product of fishing is the antithesis of what is
described above. This new man is the product of an anti-system that does not
intend to make him a citizen, but a slave, dominated by an alien and integral
thought of a collective. It is not a semantic matter, it is rather a matter of
principles, values and definitions that have enabled us to build modern
Civility and which have also served as support for Freedom and Justice since
biblical times. More recently, man manages to create new definitions and rules
of the game, which have less than a hundred years of conception, such as the
Declaration of Human Rights, created in Paris,
on Dec 10, 1948.
Here, it is when man begins to exist as a free citizen, a member of the
civilized world, which allows him to leave behind a perverse and very useful
definition of a new man, or rather a submissive slave. The anti-system only aims to seek and snatch freedom and rights from the free citizen, so that he can turn him
into the new man, who turns out to be simply a submissive slave, a member of an
inert mass or collective, who submits to the yoke of other people's thought and
obeys him faithfully and without argument.
Any resemblance to the Men's
Fishermen of the First Century A.D. and the Latin American reality of the 21st
century, unfortunately is no coincidence. Instead, the fishing of the new man,
who currently roams Latin America as a submissive slave, without principles,
without values, without thought, but instead, dominated by an alien thought
full of violence and destruction, is encouraged. By not understanding it this
way, we are destined to witness the destruction of the Civility of the 21st
century,.....

Andrés, El Primer Apóstol
Para
el mundo Ortodoxo Y Catolico, hoy 30 de Noviembre se conmemora el dia de San Andrés
(en griego:
Ἀνδρέας, Andréas), conocido como el primer Apóstol de Jesús y hermano de Pedro.
A su vez Andréas proviene de la raiz griega Andras
(ἄνδρας), cuyo significo esencial es hombre.
Resulta entonces paradójico el hecho que, según los evangelios de Mateo y
Marcos, Andrés y Pedro eran pescadores y Jesús les hizo sus principales
discípulos diciéndoles que los convertiría en pescadores de hombres (en griego: αλιείς των ανδρών,
aliís ton andrón).
Entre
muchos pasajes de la vida del primer Apóstol predicando la palabra de Jesús, se
cuenta que construyó varias iglesias en la provincia de Acaya o Ajáia, antigua
región ubicada sobre la costa del norte
del Peloponeso
y donde actualmente se encuentra su capital, la ciudad de Patras
En su
labor de pesca encomendada por Jesús, convirtió a muchas personas al
cristianismo. Entre los conversos estaba Maximila, la esposa del procónsul
Egeas, quien, al enterarse de la noticia, acudió a la ciudad de Patras para
impedir la labor de Andres, amenazándole de cárcel y muerte. A su vez, Andrés hizo
caso omiso de las amenazas de Egeas, inclusive intentando convertir al propio
Egeas al cristianismo. El procónsul enojado, ordena entonces el encarcelamiento
de Andrés, pero no logra quebrantar la firmeza del Apóstol en su labor de pesca
inclusive desde su propia celda, con lo cual, tras
cierto tiempo, Egeas le llamó a su presencia amenazándole con azotes y con la
muerte en la cruz si obedecía sus órdenes. Andrés reafirmó su fe y la labor encomendada
por Jesús, con lo cual Egeas ordenó que le azotasen y su posterior crucifixión.
Así fue como el primer Apóstol fue desvestido, humillado, azotado y crucificado
en público. Fue atado a una cruz en forma de “X” y recoge el evangelio que
tardó varios días en morir y, desde la cruz, predicaba a todas las personas que
se le acercaban.
Sin
entrar en consideraciones religiosas, pero sí de principios y valores, el ciudadano de la actualidad puede
resultar un reflejo o producto milenario de la inquebrantable y férrea voluntad
del primer Apóstol, quien defendió sus principios y creencias por encima de su propio sufrimiento y muerte.
En la
actualidad presenciamos en cambio la pesca del hombre nuevo, o como dirían los antiguos griegos: aliís ton néon
andrón, (αλιείς των νέων ανδρών,). Aunque la pesca puede resultar similar, el
producto de ella es la antítesis de lo anteriormente descrito. Este hombre nuevo es producto de un antisistema
que no pretende convertirlo en ciudadano,
pero si en esclavo, dominado por un pensamiento ajeno e integrante
de un colectivo. No es un asunto semántico, resulta más bien un asunto de
principios, valores y definiciones que nos han permitido construir la Civilidad
moderna y, que además han servido de soporte a la Libertad y la Justicia desde
tiempos bíblicos.
Más
recientemente, el hombre logra crear nuevas definiciones y reglas de juego, que
tienen menos de cien años de concepción, como por ejemplo, la Declaración de
los Derechos Humanos, creada en Paris, en Dic 10, 1948. Aquí, es cuando el hombre empieza a existir como ciudadano libre, integrante del mundo civilizado, lo cual le permite
dejar atrás, una perversa y muy útil definición de hombre nuevo, o más bien, de esclavo
sumiso.
El
antisistema solo pretende arrebatar la libertad y los derechos al ciudadano libre, para así poder convertirlo
en el hombre nuevo, quien resulta ser
simplemente un esclavo sumiso, integrante de una masa o colectivo inerte, quien
se somete al yugo del pensamiento ajeno y le obedece fielmente y sin
discusiones.
Cualquier parecido con los
Pescadores de Hombres del Siglo I d.C.
y la realidad Latinoamericana del Siglo XXI, lamentablemente no es una
coincidencia. En cambio, se incentiva la pesca del hombre nuevo, quien actualmente deambula por Latinoamérica cual esclavo sumiso, sin principios, sin
valores, sin pensamiento, pero en cambio, dominado por un pensamiento ajeno
lleno de violencia y destrucción.
Al no entenderlo así,
estamos destinados a presenciar la destrucción de la Civilidad del Siglo XXI,.….
