Jabhat al-Nusra joined the battlefield in Homs and carried out a series of attacks on regime forces. Rebel commander said the abducted UN peacekeepers are treated as guests. Fired mortars at Hafir and Qasioun barracks in Damascus. Destroyed 5 tanks and several military vehicles. Summary of Events Rebel fighters achieved a new breakthrough today in Damascus as they stormed the sports center right behind the Abbasids International Stadium and attacked several buildings used by the army in the vicinity of the Abbasids Square, killing and injuring dozens of regime soldiers. They also fired a barrage of mortar shells on artillery bases stationed on the Qasioun Mount and the district of Hafir destroying at least one artillery battery. The rebels assassinated some of the most notorious regime loyalists in Damascus including Asaad Mhana, the secretary of the governor of Damascus, using an IED that was place near his place in Mashroo Dummar district. They also used a similar way to kill Ahmad and Basem Olabi, the regime’s most loyalist Shabiha militiamen in the neighborhood of Shaghour. Heavy fighting and shelling continued in Homs for the sixth day in raw with Jabhat al-Nusra officially joining the battlefield to support the rebels against regime forces backed by Hezbollah and the Syrian National Defense Force. Jabhat al-Nusra carried out a series of suicide bombings and stormed a building that houses the Electricity Authority in the suburb of Dar Kabeera. Meanwhile, fighting continued in the old city of Homs and the town of Talbisa where the rebels destroyed a military tank and left many soldiers dead and wounded. In Daraa, the rebels stormed a restaurant that belongs to the commander-in-chief of the 38th Brigade in the town of Sayda and destroyed two military tanks as they repelled the regime’s ground assault on the district of Daraa al-Blalad and the town of Jamlawhere the 21 UN peacekeepers are being held. At least nine officers killed when the rebels carried out an ambush in the Ariha-Mastouma road in the suburb of Idlib. The rebels used military tanks and mortar shells to bombard the bases of the army’s 93rd Regiment and 17th division in Raqa and attacked several army positions in the suburbs of Hama, Deir Azzour and Idlib. Meanwhile, regime forces continued their attacks on opposition-held areas across the country, shelling more than 364 locations, five of which were pounded by fighter jets while activists said that five Scud-type missiles were fired towards the north from the base of the army’s 155 Brigade in the suburb of Damascus. They also bombarded other locations using all sorts of heavy weaponry such as rocket launchers, heavy artillery, thermobaric, cluster, phosphorus and TNT bombs, thus causing extensive material damages and leaving dozens of people dead and wounded. The continued violence in Syria left more than 138 people dead today. Regime forces and loyalist militiamen killed at least 81 people, including eight children, four women and 34 rebel fighters, whereas the rebels killed more than 75 soldiers and militiamen. At least 22 people died as a result of the intense shelling in the neighborhood of Jobar in Damascus and in its provincial towns of Douma, Yalda, Zabadani and East Ghouta district. Regime shelling also left at least ten people dead in the neighborhoods of Ma’adi and Masaken Hanano in Aleppo city and in its provincial towns of Indan and Deir Hafer, five more in the Idlib suburbs of Ariha, Kafrnabel and Habeit and one child in the Daraa suburb of Msefra. The 21 Filipino peacekeepers seized two days earlier by Syrian rebels in the town of Jamal on the Israeli-Syrian armistice line in the occupied Golan Heights appeared in a video broadcasted today on Youtube along with the commander of the Yarmouk Martyrs Brigade who said that the captives are being treated as guests not as detainees. He accused the regime of deliberately shelling the places suspected of housing the peacekeepers and confirmed that they will be released once the regime pull out its troops from the supposed demilitarized zone and demanded the UN should force the Syrian regime to adhere to the 1974 cease-fire agreement signed in 1974 with Israel. Despite the escalating violence, peaceful protesters took to the streets across the country raising banners calling for the unity of the Syrian people, demanding the overthrow of the regime and محافظ دمشق أسعد مهنا بعبوة ناسفة في حي مشروع دمر، وكل من أحمد وباسم العلبي، أكبر الموالين لنظام الأسد في حي الشاغور تواصلت وتيرة القصف والاشتباكات بالارتفاع في حمص لليوم السادس على التوالي وذلك في الوقت الذي وصلت فيه أعداد جديدة من عناصر جبهة النصرة إليها لمد يد العون للثوار، وقاموا بتنفيذ عملية استشهادية استهدفت أحد مقار قوات النظام، واقتحموا مؤسسة الكهرباء التي كانت تتمركز فيها قوات النظام في بلدة الدار الكبيرة في ريف حمص، كما قام ثوار حمص بتدمير دبابة وقتل وجرح عدد من قوات النظام على مشارف أحياء حمص القديمة وبلدة تلبيسة في درعا، اقتحم الثوار استراحة تابعة لقائد اللواء 38 في بلدة صيدا وقتلوا كافة من فيها من جنود، وتمكنوا من إعطاب دبابتين أثناء التصدي لمحاولة اقتحام منطقة درعا البلد، وتصدوا كذلك لمحاولة اقتحام بلدة جملة حيث يحتفظون بعناصر الأمم المتحدة ال 21 الذين تم أسرهم قبل يومين وقتل الثوار تسعة ضباط في كمين نصب لهم عند طريق "أريحا - المسطومة" في ريف إدلب، وقاموا بقصف مقري الفوج 93والفرقة 17 في ريف الرقة، وهاجموا عدداً من النقاط العسكرية في ريف حماة ودير الزور وإدلب قصفت قوات النظام اليوم أكثر من 364 نقطة في مختلف أنحاء البلاد بينها خمس نقاط تم قصفها بالطيران الحربي، وتم رصد إطلاق خمس صواريخ سكود من مقر اللواء 155 في ريف دمشق باتجاه الشمالي السوري، في حين تم استخدام القنابل العنقودية والفراغية والفوسفورية وقذائف الهاون وراجمات الصواريخ والمدفعية الثقيلة في قصف نقاط أخرى أسفرت عن إحداث دمار كبير في المباني السكنية وسقوط عشرات الضحايا بين شهيد وجريح وصلت الحصيلة العامة لضحايا العنف الذي شهدته البلاد اليوم إلى 138 قتيلاً، بينهم 81 شهيداً قتلتهم قوات النظام وميلشياته الموالية، منهم ثمان أطفال وأربع نساء وما يزيد عن 34 مقاتلاً من كتائب الثوار، بينما سقط أكثر من 75 قتيلاً في صفوف قوات وميلشيات النظام أثناء الاشتباكات فقد سقط ما يزيد عن 22 شهيداً في دمشق وريفها نتيجة القصف العشوائي على حي جوبر ومدن وبلدات دوما ويلدا والزبداني ومنطقة الغوطة الشرقية، كما أسفر القصف العشوائي عن سقوط عشرة شهداء في حيي المعادي ومساكن هنانو في حلب وبلدتي عندان ودير حافر في ريفها، وخمسة شهداء في مدن وبلدات أريحا وكفرنبل والهبيط في ريف إدلب، وطفل في بلدة المسيفرة في ريف درعا بث ناشطون مقطع فيديو يظهر فيه عناصر الأمم المتحدة ال21 والمحتجزين من قبل الجيش الحر في بلدة جملة في ريف درعا، وأكد قائد لواء شهداء اليرموك الذي قام بأسر العناصر على حرص الجيش الحر على سلامتهم وقال بأنهم يعاملون معاملة الضيوف وليس كأسرى، إلا أن قوات النظام كثفت من قصفها للمنازل التي تعتقد بوجود عناصر الأمم المتحدة فيها بقصد قتلهم واتهام الثوار بالقيام بذلك حسب قوله، وطالب قائد اللواء الأمم المتحدة بإجبار النظام السوري على تطبيق اتفاقية فض الاشتباك الموقعة مع إسرائيل والتي تمنع دخول القوات العسكرية إلى المنطقة وعدم القيام بأي أعمال عسكرية فيها، وأكد أن المراقبين سيتم إطلاق سراحهم في حال توقف القصف وذلك خوفاً على حياتهم خرجت اليوم مظاهرات في مدن سورية مختلفة أطلق عليها الناشطون شعار "لن تمر دولتكم الطائفية"، وقد رفع المتظاهرون شعارات تنادي بالوحدة الوطنية للشعب السوري وتطالب بإسقاط النظام
