North Korea tresting Super large Multple Rocket launchers...... a reason why the INF and ABM Treaties are dead...

N. Korea's testing of 'super-large' multiple rocket launchersJust like the Patriot Act had to be redone to accomodate technology after 911/2001  when the act only covered faxes, telephone intercepts but didn't cover emails, texts, flash drive and technology we had gained saince the 1970's  The INF, ABM treaties have died for the same reasons....

When the President says, the new INF treaty must include China North Korea and any or other nation developing these weapons he says it for a reason.

These Cold War treaties were done witrh only two key players (US/USSR)  but since then you have countries like North Korea, India, Pakistan, Iran, Brazil, S. Africa, Israel, UK, France, developing missile technology also.

Hypersonic weapons are also another new twist,  which makes range not an issue but speed.

The mutants are the great concern and that is what North Korea is making a deliberate effort. Since there is no SRBM treaty, or ABM treaty this has been the playground for many rogue states..

Lets start by definitions:

short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) is a ballistic missile with a range of about 1,000 kilometres (620 mi) or less. (Wikipedia)

Missile:  a weapon that is self-propelled or directed by remote control, carrying conventional or nuclear explosive.
(Wikipedia)

Rocket:  a cylindrical projectile that can be propelled to a great height or distance by the combustion of its contents, used typically as a firework or signal.(Wikipedia)

rocket is a self-propelled, unguided weapon system powered by a rocket motor. Rockets are used primarily as medium and long-range artillery systems, ...(Wikipedia)

MRLS  (Multiple Rocket Launch System) multiple rocket launcher (MRL) or multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) is a type of rocket artillery system.(Wikipedia)

Missiles are very clear and have never changed by definition, they are all guided by direct or remote control.  That definition is good for the next 10 centuries will not change.

Now rockets are a differnt thing,  since the 13th century in China, rockets have been used as a saturation weapon, harrasing weapon. that is to fire several ontu a general area (without guidance) and  impact causing most destruction, the use of seversal in a cluster then makes it a multiple rocket launcher which ensures saturation of an objective.

That was from the 13th centriy all the way to the Vietnam War, but after 1975 we are dealing with a different thing.

Just like in the beer industry there are lagers and pilsners... all pilsners are lagers, but not all lagers are pilners

Likewise all Shia muslims are muslims but not all Muslims are Shia or all Christians are Catholics (Universal church actual Greek definition of word)  oops there is the difference.....

That is the diatribe on rocketry......... not all rockets are missiles but some have become it.

When a rocket has guidance fins, GPS system, variable ballistic guidance system , inertial navigation systems or satellite navigation system it has now become a missile..

Add hypervelocity, add potential nuclear payload, then you are on the verge of other definitions which borderline a tactical or strategic weapon.

So Bush had it right in 2002 getting out of the ABM treaty, and Trump also in 2019 out of the INF treaty, they wer both being violated left and right and not only by the Russian but at least another  handful of countries

Encourage you to read  38 North article on the recent firng of the KN-24  also posted on this blog
