Summary of Events Regime forces carried out a major security operation in the opposition-held areas surrounding Damascus international airport in the suburbs of Damascus, mainly in the provincial towns of Aqraba and Bait Sahem, prompting violent clashes with the rebels who also fired mortar shells into a military barrack stationed in the town of Haran Awamid, 5km east of the airport. The violence has forced the closure of the airport and suspension of all flights, while Dubai’s Emirates airline as well as Egypt Air announced that they’re indefinitely suspending all flights to and from the Syrian capital for security reasons. Moreover, all employees at the airport were asked to leave until further notice as the state news media reported that the airport was closed for maintenance. Activists also reported that the regime instructed the 9th and 5th military divisions in Daraa as well as the 15th division in Suwaida to move into Damascus to support its battered forces amid fears that more massacres could be committed against unarmed civilians. Internet service was cut off for the first in the entire country today while both cellphone and telephone services were also partially down. Renesys, a U.S.-based technology company that monitors Internet networks, reported that starting at 10:26 UTC (12:26pm in Damascus), Syria's international Internet connectivity shut down. Electricity was also cut off in the entire suburbs of Damascus as well as in its southern neighbourhoods. Activists warned that the Assad regime might be planning to escalate its crackdown against the rebels-held areas. The rebels seized control of two air defense bases in the suburbs of Aleppo, one near the village of Abtin in the south and another in the east. They also seized control of a military base in the suburb of Damascus. Activists said that rebel fighters seized more than 6000 cooking gas cylinders in Aleppo city and distributed them among the neighborhoods they control. Regime forces shelled as many as 198 different areas today. They fired mortar shells on more than 74 areas while their heavy artillery pounded more than 56 others. Some 51 areas came under rocket shelling and four more were bombarded by barrel bombs. Fighter jets bombarded more than ten areas of which four are said to have been shelled by thermobaric bombs thus causing extensive damage to residential buildings and leaving scores of people dead and injured. At least 54 people died in Aleppo and its suburbs today, 20 of whom were killed in an airstrike that leveled three buildings to the ground and left 40 more people critically wounded. Some nine children and two women were among the fatalities. Ten more people were reported dead today after yesterday’s airstrike on the Aleppo suburb of Menbej. Meanwhile, ten rebel fighters were killed during clashes with regime forces in the Liramon district near Aleppo city. Regime airstrikes also killed seven people in the Damascus suburb of Daraya and two more in Douma. Today’s death toll in Damascus and its suburbs is the lowest in months. For the third day in a row, the Daraa suburb of Tafas has been subjected to a major military campaign as hundreds of troops backed by military tanks carried out arson, looting and summary executions, leaving at least six people dead. Today’s death toll reached 99, including 23 children and four women as well as 20 rebel fighters. واسعة في البلدات القريبة من مطار دمشق الدولي وخاصة بلدتي عقربا وبيت سحم اللتان تقعان على طريق المطار الذي يبلغ طوله 20 كم، الشيء الذي أسفر عن وقوع اشتباكات عنيفة مع عدد من كتائب الثوار في تلك المناطق وقيام الثوار بقصف ثكنة عسكرية مكلفة بحماية المطار بالقرب من بلدة حران العواميد التي تبعد حوالي الخمس كيلومترات عنه               وقد أسفرت تلك الأحداث عن إغلاق المطار بشكل تام وتوقف كافة الرحلات وإعلان الخطوط الجوية الإماراتية ومصر للطيران إلغاء رحلاتها إلى دمشق حتى إشعار آخر، وأعادت السلطات جميع موظفي المطار إلى بيوتهم حتى إشعار آخر وقالت أنها قامت بإغلاقه بداعي الصيانة الروتينية أفاد ناشطون بأن النظام أعطى أوامر إلى الفرقتين التاسعة والخامسة في درعا والخامسة عشر في السويداء بالتحرك باتجاه دمشق  لمساندة قواته التي تكبدت خسائر فادحة من قبل الثوار وسط مخاوف من قيام تلك القوات بشن حملات إبادة جماعية بحق المدنيين شهدت سورية انقطاع تام لشبكة الانترنت منذ منتصف اليوم، كذلك شهدت مناطق واسعة من البلاد بما فيها العاصمة دمشق انقطاعاً متقطعاً للاتصالات الجوالة والأرضية، وفي تقرير صدر عن شركة أميركية لرصد شبكات الانترنت فإنه في تمام الساعة 12:26 من بعد ظهر اليوم انقطعت جميع خطوط الشبكة الدولية للإنترنت عن سورية وتم قطع الكهرباء عن كافة الريف الدمشقي والأحياء الجنوبية للعاصمة التي تقع تحت سيطرة الثوار، وقد حذر ناشطون من نية النظام على ارتكاب المزيد من المجازر في المناطق التي تخضع تحت سيطرة الثوار تمكن الثوار من السيطرة على كتيبة عزان للدفاع الجوي الواقعة شرق قرية عبطين في ريف حلب الجنوبي، وعلى قاعدة المنطار للدفاع الجوي الواقعة في جبل الحص في ريف حلب الشرقي، كما سيطروا على كتيبة الإشارة 533 والمستودع التابع لها في ريف دمشق قام الجيش الحر بالاستيلاء على 6000 عبوة من غاز الطبخ في مدينة حلب وقام بتوزيعها على عدد من الأحياء التي تقع تحت سيطرته قصفت قوات النظام اليوم أكثر من 198 منطقة في مختلف أنحاء البلاد، فقد تعرضت أكثر من 74 منقطة لقصف بمدافع الهاون و56 منطقة قصفت بالمدفعية الثقيلة، و51 منطقة قصفت براجمات الصواريخ، كما قامت الطائرات المروحية بإلقاء براميل متفجرة على أربع مناطق بينما شنت الطائرات الحربية غارات جوية على عشر مناطق أخرى في حين تم قصف سبع مناطق بالقنابل الفراغية في حلب ودمشق وريفها وإدلب مما أدى إلى سقوط عشرات الشهداء والجرحى فضلاً عن تهدم عشرات المباني السكنية فقد شهدت مدينة حلب أحداثاً دمويةً راح ضحيتها ما يزيد عن 54 شهيداً، فقد شنت طائرات النظام المقاتلة غارات جوية على مناطق عدة في مدينة حلب أدت إحداها إلى سقوط أكثر من 20 شهيداً بينهم تسعة أطفال وسيدتين إضافةً إلى حوالي 40 جريحاً في حي الأنصاري، وقد أدت هذه الغارة إلى تهدم عدد من المباني السكنية فوق رؤوس قاطنيها وأوقعت أضراراً مادية كبيرة، كما توفي عشرة مدنيين آخرين في مدينة منبج جراء قصف المدينة بالبراميل المتفجرة يوم أمس، في حين استشهد عشرة مقاتلين من الكتائب الثائرة خلال اشتباكات مع جيش النظام في منطقة الليرمون وكانت حصيلة شهداء دمشق وريفها اليوم هي الأقل منذ شهور حيث قتلت قوات النظام 14 مواطناً بينهم سبعة في مدينة داريا واثنين آخرين في دوما قضوا في غارات جوية شنتها طائرات النظام الحربية على تلك المناطق، وتتعرض مدينة طفس في محافظة درعا لحملة عسكرية شرسة لليوم الثالث على التوالي، حيث تم اقتحامها بعشرات الدبابات بعد قصف عنيف، وتم حرق وسلب ونهب عشرات المنازل في أحياء عدة من المدينة في حين ارتقى ستة شهداء بينهم طفل قضى نتيجة القصف ورجل وزوجته تم إعدامها ميدانياً ووصلت حصيلة شهداء اليوم إلى أكثر من 99 شهيداً بينهم 23 طفلاً وأربع نساء و20 مقاتلاً من الكتائب الثائرة في Seized control of a strategic road in the suburb of Damascus. Summary of Events The rebels shot down nine warplanes within the past 48 hours after shooting down four more today. The number includes five fighter jets and four helicopter gunships, all crashed in Aleppo, Damascus and Idlib. The rebels shot down a fighter jet and detained its pilot in the Aleppo suburb of Daret Ezza today while The second one was shot down in the neighbourhood of Suleiman Halabi in Aleppo city and the third one crashed near the Turkish border in the suburb of Idlib. They also shot down a helicopter gunship in the suburb of Damascus. The rebels stormed the 608th air defence base near the town of Assan in the western suburb of Aleppo, capturing a big quantity of weapons including anti-aircraft missiles. The rebels also seized control of a strategic road connecting the provincial towns of Jesrin and Maliha in the East Ghouta district of Damascus province. More than 58 people were killed and 130 others were injured in twin blasts that rocked the mainly Druze and Christian district of Jaramana near Damascus. The mainly Sunni rebel Free Syrian Army denied responsibility of these explosions and pointed the finger of blame at the Syrian regime, saying that it is trying to instigate a sectarian strife in order to win the support of the country’s minorities. Activists said that these explosions came after a number of Druze clerks appealed to their kinsmen not to fight alongside the Assad forces. Regime forces continued their attacks on Damascus and its suburbs, killing as many as 27 people, most of them died due to the indiscriminate shelling in the neighbourhoods of Jobar and Kafarsoueh as well as the provincial towns of Douma, Daraya, Nashabiya, Rankous, Harasta and Moadamiya thus bringing the death toll in Damascus and its suburbs to 85. At least seven more people were killed in an airstrike on a local market in the Aleppo suburb of Menbej, this came in retaliation for taking the nearby water dam of Tishrin few days ago. Regime forces killed 14 people in Daraa, nine of whom died during clashes; meanwhile, ten rebel fighters were also killed during clashes with regime forces throughout the suburbs of Idlib. Regime forces shelled as many as 159 different areas today, mainly in Damascus, Aleppo and Homs. They fired mortar shells on more than 57 areas while their heavy artillery pounded more than 56 others. Some 23 areas came under rocket shelling and seven more were bombarded by barrel bombs. Fighter jets bombarded more than 19 areas of which four were shelled by cluster bombs thus causing extensive damage to residential buildings and leaving scores of people dead and injured. Today’s death toll reached 132, including ten children and five women as well as 28 rebel fighters. At least 50 people were also injured. Bank Audi is readying a plan B to quit the Syrian market should the situation deteriorates further, its CEO Samir Hanna was quoted as saying. Talking to Reuters, Mr Hanna said that the bank would pull out of the Syrian market when it will not be able to “guarantee the operations” there.
