Seized control of the Hasaka suburb of Asfar Najar. Stormed an air defence base in the Damascus suburb of Bala. Destroyed a number of military tanks and armoured vehicles during clashes with regime forces. Summary of Events At least 20 regime militiamen were killed in two car bomb attacks on military post in the center of Daraa city. Two explosions were reported in the Jesser al-Abyad area near Assad’s residential compound in Damascus. The explosions resulted from a mortar attack targeting a security branch headed by Assad’s cousin Hafez Makhlouf, no casualties were reported. The rebels stormed another air defense base in the Damascus suburb of Bala. Rebel fighters took over a small town in the province of Hasaka where they also repelled a major offensive to retake the town of Raas al-Ain which they captured two days ago. Fierce clashes broke out in Damascus and its suburbs as well as in Idlib, Deir Azzour, Aleppo and Qunaitera as regime forces continued their efforts to take over the rebels’ strongholds, resulting in the death of at least 41 soldiers. Regime forces resumed their attacks on the opposition areas throughout the country, shelling as many as 67 different areas mainly in Homs, Aleppo and the suburbs of Damascus amid complete absence of aerial attacks in some areas due to bad weather conditions. Regime forces killed more than 110 people today including 5 children, 3 women and 36 rebel fighters. They killed 47 people in Damascus and its suburbs, half of which were summarily executed, including 14 that were killed in another massacre in the provincial town of Daraya when regime troops backed by military tanks invaded the town carrying out summary executions, arson and looting. Some 14 people were killed due to the heavy artillery shelling on the Raqa suburbs of Tabaqa and Dabsi Afan and 11 others were killed in Daraa, including four civilians that were executed in the neighbouring city of Suweida and four Palestinians that were also executed in the neighbourhood of Sahari. Regime forces killed ten people in Aleppo, nine in Idlib, eight in Deir Azzour, seven in Homs and two more in Hama. The volume of freight in Tartous Port declined some 27 percent in the first ten months of the year, according to estimates from the Ministry of Transport.
