Assassinated five pilot officers in the air defence base of Dumair near Damascus. Seized control of a police station in the Daraa suburb of Tal Shihab near the Jordanian border. Seized control of the neighbourhood of Deir Baalba in Homs city. Summary of Events Tensions increased along the southern border with Israel when Israeli tanks fired on a Syrian artillery launcher after another stray shell struck the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Meanwhile, a Syrian fighter jet breached the Turkish border as it bombed the rebel-held town of Ras al-Ain killing at least 17 Syrian Kurds and injuring many others including three Turkish citizens. In response, Turkish fighter jets flew near the Syrian border with orders to shoot down any Syrian warplanes should they breach the border again. Activists said that the regime evacuated its security forces from the Kurdish town of Malkiya in the province of Hasaka and handed it over to the Kurdish PKK militia which in turn replaced the Syrian state flags with the Kurdish ones, raising them on schools and other governmental buildings. After two days of a partial absence of warplanes and low death toll, regime forces resumed their heavy bombardments on opposition areas throughout the country, shelling as many as 124 different places mainly in Damascus and its suburbs as well as in Aleppo and Homs, using fighter jets, helicopter gunships and all sort of heavy weaponry. At least 141 people, including seven women, three children and 50 rebel fighters were killed by regime forces today. Regime forces killed at least 50 people in Damascus and its suburbs as they intensified their tank and artillery shelling in the southern neighbourhoods of Damascus killing at least seven people in the Palestinian refugee camp of Yarmouk and four others in the neighbourhood of Jobar. Warplanes pounded the East Ghouta district killing dozens of people in the provincial towns of Saqba, Hamouriya and Douma. Moreover, regime militiamen raided the provincial town of Thiyabiya and executed 11 civilians with knives. More than 38 people were killed in Aleppo and its suburbs, of which 12 were killed during clashes, while nine unidentified bodies were discovered in different places in the neighbourhood of Saif Adola. Regime forces also killed nine people in Deir Azzour, six in Homs, four in each of Idlib and Daraa, three in Qunaitera, two in Raqa and one more in Tartus. Fighting continued on several fronts in the capital where regime brought in more than 2000 troops and dozens of armoured vehicles and tanks in preparation for a major offensive to retake the neighbourhood of Tadamon which fell to the rebels last week. Meanwhile, the rebels stormed an arms depot that belongs to the air force intelligence branch and captured big quantities of arms. At the same time, the Usoud al-Tawheed brigade claimed responsibility for the assassination of five pilot officers in the Dumair air base, including two generals and three colonels. The rebels shot down a helicopter gunship in the Deir Azzour suburb of Boukamal killing two colonel pilots and detaining four soldiers. They also took over a police station in the Daraa suburb of Tal Shihab near the border with Jordan and gained control of the neighbourhood of Deir Baalba in Homs city.
