Meanwhile, some 2000 troops from the Fourth Division and the Republican Guard Corps carried out a massive arrest campaign, detaining more than 150 persons in the district of Salhiya.
Today’s death toll reached more than 129. Regime forces and loyalist militiamen killed at least 93 people, including ten children, seven women and 35 rebel fighters, whereas the rebels killed more than 37 soldiers and militiamen.
Some 28 people were killed in Damascus and its suburbs, three of whom were shot dead by security forces near the town of Moadamiyat al-Sham, while dozens more were killed and injured as a result of the indiscriminate shelling in the neighborhood of Jobar as well as in the provincial towns of Modamiyat al-Sham, Sayeda Zeinab, Douma, Hajar Aswad, Mdeira and Harasta.

Meanwhile, a pro-regime militia killed three rebel fighters in the village of Tal Kalba in the suburb of Idlib while tow more bodies were pulled out of Orontes River near the Homs suburb of Teir Ma’ala.
The rebels continued to break into the defense lines of Aleppo’s international airport and the near military airport of Nerab. Today they overran an army base that supplies fuel and arms to these airports, killing at least ten soldiers and detaining many others while capturing big quantity of ammunition. Meanwhile, the rebels continued their attacks on the Minnegh and Kuwaires airbases as well as the police academy located in the suburb of Khan Asal where they destroyed a military tank using anti-tank missile.
Fighting continued in Syria’s capital, Damascus, where the rebels destroyed a military tank as they thwarted the army’s attempt to retake the neighborhood of Jobar in the east. They also fired a number of mortar shells at the Air Force Intelligence compound near the Abbasids square as heavy clashes renewed in the southern neighborhoods of Qadam and Yarmouk.
The rebels inflicted heavy losses on regime forces near the Damascus suburb of Zamalka in the Mutahaliq Janoubi Road, destroying three military tanks and killing many soldiers. They also bombarded the base of army’s 39th Brigade in the town of Adra, using military tanks and mortar shells.
In Daraa, the rebels destroyed a military tank in the neighborhood of Daraa al-Balad and stormed a checkpoint in the Tariq al-Sad road. They also ambushed several military convoys in the towns of Wadi Yarmouk, Baser Harir and Yadouda, destroying a number of military vehicles and capturing others.
The rebels continued their attack on the premises of the TV and Radio Station of Deir Azzour in the village of Ayash. In Idlib, they used tanks, missiles and mortar shells as they continued pounding the army bases of Hamdiya and Wadi al-Dayf in the provincial town of Ma’arrat al-Numan as well as the bases of Shabiba, Military Housing and Qarmid (Tiles) Factory in the town of Nerab.
The rebels captured a fully-equipped BM-21 multiple rocket launcher in the Hasaka suburb of Shadadi and fired a number of locally-made missiles into Hezbollah positions across the Syrian border with Lebanon in the Homs suburb of Qusayr.
European foreign ministers agreed to extend economic sanctions against Syria for another three months. A statement agreed by EU foreign ministers said sanctions were renewed for three more months until end-May, while "amending them so as to provide greater non-lethal support and technical assistance for the protection of civilians."
