Meanwhile, a helicopter gunship was also shot down while landing in the besieged airbase of Minnegh in the suburb of Aleppo as the rebels continued to besiege and bombard the Nerab airbase and Syria’s second airport of Aleppo.
The rebels gained new ground in Aleppo city, overrunning the premises of the Civil Registry Department in the Sabaa Bahratsquare after storming two military checkpoints of al-Souf and Kayali. They also bombarded the premises of the Air Force Intelligence in the neighborhood of Jamiyat al-Zaharaa as heavy fighting was also renewed in the neighborhoods of Sakhour, Ashrafiya, Bani Zeid, Dawar Shihan and in the vicinity of Mohallab Barrack.
In Daraa, the rebels overran an artillery base in the eastern town of Al-Sahoa, killing and imprisoning a number of soldiers and capturing several military vehicles and big quantity of arms. They also destroyed two military tanks and killed more than 14 troops as they repelled a major ground assault on the district of Daraa al-Balad.
In Damascus, fighting continued in the districts of Jobar and Qaboun and along the Mutahaliq Janoubi road near the town ofZamalka in the east as well as in the Yarmouk Refugee Camp and Tadamon in the south. Regime forces continued their attacks on civilian areas within the rebels-held towns in Syria, shelling as many as 277 locations across the country, 15 of which were pounded with warplanes using cluster, phosphorous, thermboaric and explosive bombs, causing extensive material damages and forcing thousands of civilians to flee their homes.
Today’s death toll reached more than 172. Regime forces and loyalist militiamen killed at least 122 people, including 14 children, four women and 47 rebel fighters, whereas the rebels killed more than 50 soldiers and militiamen.
Regime forces killed more than 30 people in Damascus, the majority of whom died as a result of the indiscriminate shelling in the neighborhoods of Qadam and Asali as well as in its provincial towns of Douma, Harasta, Saqba and Hajar Aswad.
Some eight people were also killed in Aleppo as a result of the indiscriminate shelling in the neighborhood of Karm Maysar as well as in its provincial towns of Sfeera and Bab al-Nerab.

An airstrike carried out by a fighter jet left at least four children dead and dozens more people injured in the Homs suburb of Houla. Meanwhile, seven bodies were pulled out of the Assi River in the village of Granada, northwest of Homs.
