Summary of Events Regime forces stepped up their attacks on the rebel-held areas throughout the country, shelling as many as 342 areas using all sorts of heavy weaponry including internationally outlawed weapons such as cluster and phosphorus bombs as well as barrel bombs, killing more than 170 people including 22 children, 15 women and 33 rebel fighters in addition to wounding more than 120 others. The PR Director of Syrian intelligence, Alaeddin al-Sabbagh, announced his defection from the Assad regime which he described as “clinically dead”. Al-Sabbagh said he is joining the ranks of the Syrian opposition and called on Syrian ambassadors, government ministers and security officials to do the same before it’s too late. Meanwhile, the Syrian Consul General in Chile Ayham Oday announced his defection from what he described as “the criminal regime”. Oday, denounce the regime’s brutal crackdown against its opposition and urged it to stop the killings immediately and handover the power to its people to prevent more casualties. For the first time in the 21-month uprising, regime fighter jets bombed the densely-populated Palestinian Yarmouk refugee camp in the south of Damascus, targeting a mosque and a school which both house hundreds of displaced people from neighboring areas. The air assault left at least 20 people dead including women and children. The regime’s attack on the Palestinian refugee camp prompted the defection of more than 230 armed militiamen from the pro-regime “Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine– General Command” after nearly two days of clashes with the rebel fighters. The defectors announced the formation of the “Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine– Free Command” and called for the arrest of the fronts’ head Ahmad Jibirl who fled to Tartus yesterday. A Youtube video published on the 13th of December, 2012 by the Russian news channel ANNA showed at least ten disfigured dead bodies as they accompanied the regime forces while invading the neighbourhood of Kafarsousa. The Russian speaking reporters were told by the regime armed militiamen that these bodies belong to rebel fighters from Saudi, Libya and Syria. Meanwhile, five charred bodies were discovered in the neighbourhood of Barzeh who are said to have been killed by pro-regime militiamen from the Alawite neighbourhood of Osh al-Warwar. The indiscriminate regime shelling also left six civilians dead in the neighbourhood of Hajar Aswad, thus bringing the total death toll in Damascus and its suburbs to 64. At least 46 people died in Aleppo, the majority of whom died due to the indiscriminate aerial and artillery bombardments in the provincial towns of Safeira and Hayan as well as the neighbourhoods of Hollok and Leramon. The highest death toll in months was reported in the relatively-calm province of Hama as more than 36 people were reported dead, 24 of whom were killed in the town of Halfaya due to the violent rocket and cluster bomb attacks that also forced hundreds of civilians to flee their homes. In Daraa, some 17 people died and dozens more were injured due to the violent artillery shelling in the neighbourhood of Tariq al-Sad and in the provincial town of Naima. Many people were also killed in Idlib, Deir Azzour, Raqa, Qunaitera and Homs. Heavy fighting broke out in the centre of Deir Azzour city where the rebels took control of the Petrochemical Faculty and Mayor’s Palace as well as al-Furat hospital. They also attacked the political security compound as they continued to push into the Deir Azzour military airport in the suburb. The rebels shot down a fighter jet in the East Ghouta district of Damascus suburb and stormed the air intelligence branch in the neighbourhood of Zahraa in Aleppo city. In the south, the rebels stormed a military post near the premises of the 90th Brigade in the Qunaitara suburb of Qahtaniya after a fierce battle that left at least 15 army soldiers dead. مدينة دير الزور ملخص الأحداث شهدت البلاد أحد أكثر أيامها دموية مع تكثيف قوات النظام لقصفها العشوائي للمدن والأحياء التي يسيطر عليها الثوار حيث قصفت أكثر من 342 منطقة مستخدمة جميع أنواع الأسلحة الثقيلة منها المحرمة دولياً كالقنابل العنقودية والفوسفورية والبراميل المتفجرة، وقتلت ما لا يقل عن 182 شهيداً في مختلف أنحاء البلاد معظمهم في دمشق وحلب وحماة منهم 22 طفلاً و15 امرأة و33 مقاتلاً من كتائب الثوار بالإضافة إلى سقوط أكثر من 120 جريحاً جراء تلك الاعتداءات أعلن علاء الدين الصباغ، مدير العلاقات العامة للمخابرات السورية، انشقاقه عن النظام السوري الذي وصفه بالميت سريرياً، ودعا الضباط من مختلف الأجهزة الأمنية والوزراء والسفراء والملحقين العسكريين إلى اللحاق بركب الثورة والانشقاق عن الأسد قبل سقوطه وقبل أن تغلق الثورة أبوابها، كذلك أعلن القنصل السوري في جمهورية التشيلي أيهم عدي استقالته من منصبه وانشقاقه النهائي عن "النظام المجرم" حسب وصفه، معلناً رفضه القاطع وتنديده بسياسة القمع التي اتبعها النظام ودعاه إلى وقف القتل فوراً والتسليم بإرادة الشعب منعاً لسقوط المزيد من الضحايا قصفت طائرات النظام الحربية ولأول مرة مخيم اليرموك الفلسطيني مستهدفةً مسجداً ومدرسةً يأويان نازحين من مناطق مجاورة للمخيم مما أدى إلى سقوط 21 شهيداً على الأقل بينهم أطفال ونساء معظمهم من الفلسطينيين، وقد أسفر هذا الاعتداء عن انشقاق أكثر من 230 عنصراً من "الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين- القيادة العامة" بقيادة أحمد جبريل المعروف بولائه للنظام وذلك بعد اشتباكات عنيفة مع كتائب الثوار دامت يومين، وقام المنشقون الفلسطينيون بتشكيل ما سموه "الجبهة الشعبية لتحرير فلسطين- القيادة الحرة" وطالبوا بإلقاء القبض على أحمد جبريل الذي فر إلى محافظة طرطوس يوم أمس تم الكشف عن مجزرة راح ضحيتها عشرة شهداء في حي كفرسوسة كانت قد ارتكبتها قوات النظام في وقت سابق وتم الكشف عنها في تقرير مصور لقناة ANNA الروسية الأخبارية، حيث كان مراسلها برفقة قوات النظام عند اقتحامهم للحي وهم مدعومين بالدبابات والآليات العسكرية وقامت ميلشيا موالية للنظام من حي الورور بارتكاب مجزرة أخرى في حي برزة المجاور وقامت بقتل وحرق أربعة مواطنين من عائلة واحدة، كما سقط ستة شهداء نتيجة القصف العشوائي على حي الحجر الأسود وسقط عدد أخر من الشهداء في مناطق متفرقة من ريف دمشق لترتفع حصيلة شهداء دمشق وريفها إلى 64 شهيداً شهدت حلب يوماً دامياً سقط فيه ما لا يقل عن 46 شهيداً معظمهم سقطوا نتيجة الغارات الجوية التي شنتها طائرات النظام الحربية والمروحية على مدن وبلدات السفيرة وحيان وأحياء الهلك والليرمون، وشهدت حماة أكبر حصيلة من الشهداء لها منذ أشهر حيث سقط أكثر من 36 شهيداً بينهم 24 قضوا في بلدة حلفايا التي تبعد حوالي 18 كم عن مدينة حماة والتي تعرضت لقصف عنيف براجمات الصواريخ والطيران المروحي الذي استخدم القنابل العنقودية ضد البلدة التي شهدت موجة نزوح كبيرة وفي درعا سقط ما لا يقل عن 17 شهيداً وعشرات الجرحى جراء القصف المدفعي العنيف الذي استهدف حي السد وبلدة النعيمة، كما سقط العشرات من الشهداء والجرحى في إدلب ودير الزور والرقة والقنيطرة وحمص شهدت مدينة دير الزور اشتباكات واسعة النطاق في عدة أحياء حيث أعلن الثوار سيطرتهم على كلية الهندسة البتروكيميائية وقصر المحافظ والجسر المعلق ومشفى الفرات بقلب المدينة بالتزامن مع استمرار الحصار والاشتباكات العنيفة في محيط مبنى الأمن السياسي إلى جانب محاصرة مطار دير الزور العسكري واقتحام دفاعاته، كما قام الثوار بإسقاط طائرة ميغ حربية في الغوطة الشرقية في ريف دمشق واقتحموا فرع المخابرات الجوية في حي الزهراء في مدينة حلب وفي الجنوب، سيطر الثوار على بلدة القحطانية في محافظة القنيطرة بعد
