Summary of Events Major General Abdul Aziz Jassem al-Shallal, chief of the military police in Syria announced his defection from the Syrian army, becoming the highest-military officer to defect so far. Al-Shallal said the army has turned into gangs of killing and destruction, Al Arabiya TV reported. Meanwhile, defected Colonel Fatih Hasoun, deputy chief of staff of the rebel Free Syrian Army accused government forces of launching a chemical attack that killed at least six people in Homs. The rebel commander urged the international community to act immediately to save the lives of “the oppressed people” and blamed the international community for keeping silent about this dangerous act by the Assad regime. The rebels continued to make new gains across the country as they announced the death of Syria’s chief of military intelligence along with four of his bodyguards in an ambush near the Jaramana district in Damascus. Meanwhile, the rebels said they destroyed two military convoys on the road to Damascus airport. The rebels launched a major military offensive to liberate the northern province of Raqa, attacking a number of military checkpoints as well as the state security branch in the city centre. They also seized control of a military checkpoint in the Raqa suburb of Solouq as they stormed the villages of Hanida and Safsafa in the western suburb. The rebels stormed the police academy in the Aleppo suburb of Khan Asal. They also broke into the Menneg airbase, seizing control of a big part of it while continuing to bombard the airbases of Nerab and Quwayres in the suburbs of Aleppo as well as the Deir Azzour airbase in the east. The Assad regime continued its brutal crackdown on its opposition killing more than 171 people today, including 16 children, 11 women and 49 rebel fighters. Regime fighter jets continued to target bakeries for the third day in a raw, this time killing more than 22 people and leaving dozens more wounded in the Deir Azzour suburb of Baseera as they queued for bread. In Damascus and its suburbs, regime forces killed 61 people, 17 of whom were summarily executed at a military checkpoint manned by the fourth division corps and located just few hundred kilometres from Bhrahimi’s hotel near the town of Darya. Victims that include a man and eight of his children tried to flee the daily shelling and fighting in their town before been executed. At least nine people, including three children and one woman were killed due to the heavy artillery shelling in the Daraa suburb of Taffas, while in Hama, regime forces killed 17 people, six of whom were executed in the provincial towns of Hasraya and Salamiya. Some 17 people died in Aleppo, five of whom were killed in an airstrike that targeted residential buildings in the provincial town of Dwereena. Activists said that three family members who were recently arrested near the Idlib suburb of Ma’arrat Noman, were discovered dead in the nearby national hospital of Hama. Their bodies showed severe torture marks and some of their organs were stolen. Dozens more were killed due to the heavy fighting and shelling that took place in Qunaitera, Raqa and Latakia. Regime forces shelled as many as 270 different areas across the country using all sort of heavy weaponry including cluster and phosphorous bombs as well as barrel bombs. Some 103 areas were shelled by mortar shells and 127 others were pounded by heavy artillery. More than 40 areas came under rocket shelling as fighter jets launched more than 13 airstrikes while helicopter gunships dropped barrel bombs on ten more areas. These attacks caused extensive damage to residential buildings and left dozens of people dead and wounded and sent thousands fleeing their homes. More than 6000 Syrian women are currently incarcerated by the Syrian security and intelligence forces. They’re being subjected to systematic torture and rape, particularly those whose details didn’t make it to the human rights and media organizations. وفي فيديو بثه المجلس الثوري العسكري في حمص، أكد العقيد الركن المنشق فاتح حسون مساعد رئيس الأركان - قائد جبهة حمص، استخدام النظام السوري للأسلحة الكيماوية في حمص مناشداً المجتمع الدولي التحرك من أجل انقاذ "الشعب المظلوم المستضعف" وحمل المجتمع الدولي مسؤولية السكوت عن هذا الأمر في تلك الأثناء، حقق الجيش الحر المزيد من الانتصارات في مختلف أنحاء البلاد، حيث أعلن عن مقتل رئيس الاستخبارات العسكرية في كمين نصب له من قبل المخابرات العسكرية التابعة للجيش الحر في منطقة جرمانا في دمشق في الوقت الذي قام به بتدمير رتلين عسكريين على طريق مطار دمشق الدولي وأعلن الثوار بدء معركة تحرير محافظة الرقة التي شهدت اشتباكات غير مسبوقة بعد أن هاجم الجيش الحر عدداً من حواجز قوات النظام بالمدينة كان أعنفها في محيط مبنى الأمن السياسي، كما سيطر على حاجز أم البراميل في منطقة سلوك وعلى قريتي هنيدة والصفصافة بريف الرقة الغربي بالكامل بعد تحرير حواجز ومراكز قوات النظام التي كانت تتمركز فيها واقتحم الجيش الحر مدرسة الشرطة في بلدة خان العسل بريف حلب الغربي وسيطر على عدة مطاحن قريبة منها تعد مركز لشبيحة النظام منها مطحنة الفرواتي، كما تمكن الثوار من اقتحام مطار منغ العسكري والسيطرة على أجزاء منه في الوقت الذي واصلوا فيه قصفهم لمطاري النيرب والكويرس العسكريين بريف حلب ومطار دير الزور العسكري في محافظة دير الزور واصل النظام ارتكاب المجازر بحق معارضيه في يوم سقط فيه أكثر من 171 شهيداً بينهم 12 طفلاً و11 سيدة و49 مقاتلاً من كتائب الثوار فقد استهدفت طائرات النظام وللمرة الثالثة خلال الأيام الثلاثة الماضية مخبزاً أثناء اصطفاف المدنيين أمامه لشراء الخبز، فهذه المرة أغارت طائرة حربية على مخبز في بلدة المصيرة في ريف دير الزور مما أسفر عن سقوط 22 شهيداً وعشرات الجرحى، وفي دمشق وريفها، قتلت قوات النظام 61 مواطناً بينهم 17 شهيداً تم إعدامهم ميدانياً عند أحد حواجز الفرقة الرابعة على بعد بضعة مئات الأمتار عن الفندق الذي استضاف المبعوث الأممي والعربي الأخضر الإبراهيمي عند أطراف مدينة داريا، ومن بين هؤلاء الضحايا أب وأولاده الثمانية أما في بلدة طفس ريف درعا فقد سقط تسعة شهداء بينهم ثلاثة أطفال وامرأة نتيجة القصف المدفعي العشوائي الذي استهدف منازل المدنيين في البلدة، وفي حماة قتلت قوات النظام 17 مواطناً بينهم ستة على الأقل تم إعدامهم ميدانياً في بلدتي حصرايا والسلمية، كما سقط في حلب 17 شهيداً بينهم خمسة مدنيين قضوا جراء غارة جوية استهدفت بلدة دويرينة بريف حلب وفي ريف إدلب أفاد ناشطون أن قوات النظام قامت باعتقال ثلاثة شبان من عائلة واحدة على أحد الحواجز القريبة من مدينة معرة النعمان وقامت بقتلتهم تحت التعذيب ومن ثم رمت جثثهم في مشفى حماة الوطني بعد أن سرقت أعضائهم كما سقط العديد من الشهداء جراء القصف والاشتباكات التي دارت في القنيطرة والرقة واللاذقية قصف قوات النظام اليوم ما لا يقل عن 270 منطقة في مختلف أنحاء البلاد مستخدمةً القنابل العنقودية بالإضافة إلى البراميل المتفجرة، فقد شهدت حوالي 103 مناطق قصفاً بمدافع الهاون و40 منطقة قصفت براجمات الصواريخ و127 منطقة بالمدفعية الثقيلة، كما شن الطيران الحربي أكثر من 13 غارة جوية، فيما قامت مروحيات النظام بقصف عشر مناطق مستخدمة البراميل المتفجرة مما أسفر عن وقوع عشرات الشهداء والجرحى وإحداث دمار كبير في المنازل وإجبار المئات من المدنيين على النزوح عن ديارهم أفادت الشبكة السورية لحقوق الإنسان أن قوات المخابرات والأمن السورية التابعة للحكومة السورية تقوم بالاعتداء الممنهج على ما لا يقل عن 6000 فتاة معتقلة في أقبية سجون النظام السوري ويتعرض البعض منهن لحالات تعذيب واغتصاب وبخاصه الفتيات اللاتي لاتصل أسمائهم إلى المنظمات الحقوقية والإعلامية
